New client etiquette; steps to a great consultation

As lash artists, we always appreciate meeting new clients and having the opportunity to introduce them to the wonderful world of lash extensions! Sometimes new clients come from other lash artists or they have already tried lash extensions in the past.  Whatever the case may be, every lash artist should have a consultation routine to help things go smoothly. Check out our new client recommendations that will help you avoid lash adversity and gain new, happy clients!

Always Have a Consent Form

This should be step one of a new client consultation. A good consent form offers protection for both you as a lash artist and the client undergoing the service. Additionally, a consent form clearly outlines all of your business policies and procedures so clients understand what they can expect from your services.

Create a Professional Space

We always want our clients to feel comfortable and safe at every appointment. Make sure your space is clean and welcoming…remember you never get a chance to make another first impression! Allow clients to express their concerns and lash expectations to better understand them. Communication is key!

Screen for Red Flags

During your conversation, it is your job as a lash professional to determine if the service is a good fit for your client. Feel free to ask questions about prescriptions, medical conditions and lifestyle factors that might affect lash extensions. Remember to never recommend medications or treatments and always refer a client to a healthcare professional for medical situations.

Book Their Next Appointment

As we’ve said before, you need to be doing retention marketing for a retention service. Lash Extensions should be filled every 2-4 weeks and we all know how quickly we book! Skip the disappointment and book their refill appointment before they leave.

Review Lash Aftercare

We can’t control what clients do with their lashes in between appointments but we can make recommendations! Help answer any questions they might have about lash aftercare to help achieve great retention. Check out our aftercare recommendation here.
